Hitchcock vs. Dead Ringers: Episode 4
Freak the Geek

6m 19s
In Dead Ringers, the twins Beverly and Ellie Mantle (played by Jeremy Irons) spend their days literally examining women in the most intimate ways possible—and then they spend their nights romancing the same women. These guys are super-gazers, objectifying women from every conceivable angle—and probably a few you hadn’t thought of.
That notion is amplified by the particular object of their focus in the movie: Claire (Geneviève Bujold). As an actress, she’s used to being objectified by the camera and her fans. Yet, she’s betrayed by the Mantle twins. When she demands that they meet her for lunch together, in effect, she tears down that fourth wall. Watch the final installment on my miniseries on Hitchcock and Cronenberg to catch all the Hitchcockian connections.
